Coronary Bypass in Turkey

Coronary bypass is a surgical procedure that is performed to maintain adequate blood flow in the condition of an artery injury or blockage. A healthy blood vessel is taken from another part of the body and tied beyond the occluded artery, so that blood flow to the occluded area is restored. The symptoms such as chest pain and shortness of breath caused by heart disease are become more better, and heart functions are improved.

How is Coronary Bypass Surgery Performed?

Firstly, the tests such as blood tests, chest X-ray, electrocardiogram (ECG) are performed for evaluation before the surgery. The surgery is taken under general anesthesia.

Secondly, the surgery begins with an incision in the middle of the chest. Coronary bypass surgery can also be done with a minimally invasive method with smaller incisions.

Generally, a healthy blood vessel is taken from the leg and tied forward of the occluded artery. Thus, the blood flow continues beyond the occluded artery. Although it varies according to the number of bypassed vessels, the operation takes an average of 2-4 hours.

After Coronary Bypass Surgery

Hospitalization is necessary for 5-6 days after the operation. Pain may be felt in the surgery area while taking deep breaths or coughing. The detailed information will be given about how home care should be after discharge. The heavy activities should be avoided during the recovery period. In order to decrease blood cholesterol, reduce the risk of blood clots, and help the heart work well, a healthy lifestyle should be preserved after surgery, and prescribed medications should be used regularly.

My aunt had a knee replacement surgery on both her knees and we've seen an incredible progress eventhough it's only been 2 weeks. Doctor is amazing, hospitality is another level, nurses and all procedures are highly professional. As someone who has been to many big hospitals in Turkey, I must say this one is by far the best cause they're health-oriented as opposed to money oriented. Definitely recommend it to anyone especially for orthopedic surgery and physiotherapy.
