Ear Aesthetics (Otoplasty)

Ear aesthetic surgery (otoplasty) is a surgical procedure in which the ears are reshaped by changing their shape or size. It can be applied to improve the appearance of the auricle, to correct an injury or congenital deformity.

How is Ear Aesthetic Surgery Performed?

General health examinations are made and the desired results from the surgery are determined before ear aesthetics. Surgery is usually done under local anesthesia. According to the changes to be made, incisions are made behind the ear or inside. The ear is reshaped by removing excess cartilage or skin and the incisions are closed. The operation takes about 2 hours.

There are other methods applied to reshape the ear. Your doctor will choose the technique that best suits you.

After Ear Aesthetic Surgery

The patients can return home the same day of the operation. Pain may be felt for a few days after the procedure. Pain medication should be used according to the doctor’s recommendation. After the surgery, the ears are covered with a bandage for a few days. After the bandages are removed, it is recommended to wear a headband to protect the ears, especially at night. Before returning to daily activities, you should consult a doctor.
